3rd International Guitar Competition Maurizio Biasini
The International Guitar Competition Maurizio Biasini (cciMB) crosses the Atlantic for its 3rd edition, to be held at the San Francisco Conservatory of Music (SFCM) in the USA, from January 14 – 17, 2016. Organized to promote the musical career of talented young guitarists, the cciMB alternates biennially between centers of great musical tradition: Bologna, Italy (2011), Basel, Switzerland (2013) and San Francisco (USA). The winner of the competition will receive a cash prize of $ 12’000, an invitation to perform a recital in Switzerland (Rising Stars series of the Allgemeine Musikgesellschaft Basel) as well as other concerts in Italy (Bologna) and France (Festival International de Guitare de Paris, 2016). Through an online video audition procedure, 12 semifinalists will be selected by an international Jury of renowned guitarists and musicians: David Tanenbaum (USA), Stephan Schmidt (CH), Gérard Abiton (F), Marco Vinicio Carnicelli, Alberto Martelli and Walter Zanetti (I). In the final round, the three finalists will play a guitar concerto accompanied by orchestra and premiere a commissioned composition by Sergio Assad.
